  • Found the scripture reference. Eph 4:11 speaks most directly to the gifts mentioned here. Gifts are also mentioned in Rom 12:6-8.
  • Looks like the ministers who love throwing these terms around have vanished. At risk of starting something I'll take a stab at it. I believe it refers to the 5 ministry gifts mentioned in the Bible. They are teacher, profet, pastor, evangelist, and apostle. The apostle is seen as the church planter and leader. Ie the one who starts other churches and guides several churches but doesn't stick around for the long term leadership of any single church.
    So apostolic ministry would be the ministry of one who views themselves as or is viewed by others as an apostle.
    I don't believe the view is held by all denominations, especially since some believe that certain gifts died with the early church. Pastors did I get this remotely right? 1 Cor 12 and 13 mention spiritual gifts. I'm thinking this comes from another reference but can't find it right now.
