Eph 5:1 Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2 and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Lev 11:45 I am the LORD who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy. Luke 6:35 36 “But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.” 1 Peter 1:14-16 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy." “Be holy” is the command, but just what does that mean? The dictionary offers the following in reference to God Himself; “holy is an adjective meaning worthy of absolute devotion, sacred”. We further learn that what being holy looks like in us is “having a divine quality”. Might I suggest that all this is saying that we should live worthy of the absolute devotion that Jesus had for us when He gave His life for us by being absolutely devoted to Him. If we have truly accepted Jesus as Savior we are “sacred” to Him, sacred meaning blessed, consecrated, hallowed and sanctified or set apart to Him. The first three are imputed or credited to us and the last, consecrated, is by our choice. From this day forward CHOOSE to respond to His holiness by living life fully consecrated to Him, because HE IS GOD and HE IS HOLY
