I get a lot of questions from people that have their sound systems set up and are recording but are not quite satisfied with their recording. They don't have enough level, or it has some noise in the recording, or some other issue that they are not quite happy with. Her are some quick tips on maximizing your recording for the best qaulity possible. 1. always make sure your record level is set right. Most recorders will have a level meter that shows where you record level is. You always want to have it set as close to 0db you can get, they will make the recordings brighter. 2. you can add a compressor to your system. This will contain the levels so you can keep the level where it should be. Sometime you may get a speaker who gets excited as they get in to the main part of the speech, or sermon and the volume in their voice will shoot your level up and distort your recording. A compressor will contain that to a normal level and keep your recording good. 3. Practice mixing your audio, there is nothing that makes for a better recording than a good mix from the sound board. The compressor can only contain the levels, it can't correct bad mixing. Your recording can still sound bad if the person behind the board does not understand what everything does. Sometimes it really helps to practice mixing, this way you can understand how the eq's work and where the volumes should be, and where they shouldn't. Also, as always if you have any questions that are more detailed than what was covered here, I am always available here at kingomfor tech support. Shoot me a question here, or call. I am always glad to help.

  • Jason, that is really useful information! Thanks for sharing.

If you are planning on uploading your weekly sermons to the Internet via MessageShare, there are even audio editing programs that you can use to edit your recordings on the computer prior to uploading them to the Internet. If you have any questions about editing your recordings to go online, or uploading your recordings to the Internet, please let me know and I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
