Life-with or w/o God, does it matter? A Christian: Athiest Discussion. Would you like to listen?

You may or may not know, but I like to preach to atheists on twitter.   When I read their posts, I find a common theme

We're just as 'good' as people who are Christians

We have morals

We have standards

We live fulfilling lives.

So, I thought it might be interesting to have some discussions on this.

I am arranging for 3 Christians and 3 atheists to meet once a week to talk about our lives - with or whithout God as the case may be.   These will be non-confrontational talks..  To compare.  To talk.  To encounter each other.

If you want to keep posted on the schedule, simple post on this discussion.  I will be posting the time and dates of the discussion.  It will be web-cast so you can listen either live or a recorded version.

Thanks for your interest!

I would like to listen and/or hear the recorded version. Let me know when.

Thanks,

Charlie0
I'd absolutely love to stay in the loop on this!

Thanks -- Bryan
Jim,
I will include you as one of the atheists in the dialog. Thanks for your interest. I will keep you posted as we plan and make sure we can accomodate your schedule.

Feel free to tweet on it - I am going to be tweeting, too. Since I am a rather 'infamous' preacher to atheists, I suspect we may have a pretty good audience. ;-)

I am happy to be involved in this on the proviso Zdenny is not. As per our previous discussion via email and my blog I am available after 5pm most weekday nights GMT and you have my Skype contact already.

Sound like a great idea!
Yes! we know in whom we believe and atheist need to hear about hope beyond the grave. Best regards, Bob
Sounds like a great idea. I don't know if you've found three Atheists yet, but if you need someone I'd be happy to participate.
I am not sure which Atheists you are listening to, but I do not know of ANY who think they are "just as good" as christians. That, quite honestly, is an insult to me as an Atheist. Not only do I believe that those who have evolved beyond religion, stand on a higher moral ground, but that most Atheists have a much better grasp on reality, are more open minded, more compassionate, and just simply have more common sense than any christians that I have met.
Francis, thank you for putting your hat into the ring. I will let you know!

Well, I could say, not only do atheist think they are just as good as Christians, but some think they are better...

Thanks Jim for a nice summary...
I will try to post details tomorrow or Wed.

I think what Juanita was hoping for, at least at first Charles, was an attempt at finding some common ground so we can better identify our differences without it having to be an entirely confrontational thing. And I say that as a fully paid up left behind, fag loving, pro-healthcare, anti-ignorance evolved ape myself too. I'm quite looking forward to it.
"Well, I could say, not only do atheist think they are just as good as Christians, but some think they are better..."
Says the pot to the kettle...I came here because of a tweet I saw about the debate you had coming up. I was interested in tuning in. However, Upon reading your intro, I became quite put off by the condescending and biased tone in your intro message. It implies all christians are good and the Atheists can only aspire to be "as good as" christians. You had decided you were better than I before you had even met me, I am only responding to your prejudice toward me as an Atheist.

Thank you Jim, for remaining level headed. I did go on the offensive , and for that I apologize to Juanita. I think it is great that she is providing a place, and putting time into running this debate. When I received the message to check this out, I thought it was going to be a neutral debate. When I came here and found out it was taking place on a christian site(one that I had to join to leave a comment) and then saw the intro message into this debate ( I do honestly feel it is condescending to atheists.) I got riled up. My apologies to all here. :~} I would love to hear the debate, and look forward to it. I hope all involved keep their heads better than I have shown here.....good luck....So when will it begin?

With respect Charles I think you're looking for a way to take offence where none was intended. This is a placeholder thread which Juanita posted to let people know, who've been waiting for the opportunity to join in on a spoken word debate for some time, that we're finally getting it together.

There'll be plenty of time to argue over semantics later—for now I think you'd do well to stick around.
Yes Juanita,
I am definitely interested!
