Actually, nowhere in the Bible does it suggest marriage is between one man and one woman for life. Consider King David, for example, who had 300 wives and 700 concubines.

I am not here to debate Angie on this question. I was only trying to show Jim that it is reasonable. Obviously, even atheists have interest in the outcome of that discussion because they have posted in response to the idea.

Between consenting adults. (That includes, to me, group sex, kinky sex, abstinence or whatever else.) Basically, what goes on in the bedrooms of CONSENTING ADULTS is no one's business who hasn't been invited to participate in that bedroom. Why is this so hard to understand?

And for the last freaking time, marriage and sex aren't at all the same. There is a rise in America of sexless marriages. But it's none of my business whether the Joneses are getting it on or if they have an open marriage or if they're comfortably platonic. Why do so many Christians think it is their business?

I wasn't part of the debate; however, I did call in and listen to you to hear what you had to say. I guess I am part of the debate indirectly; however, Juanita question just appears reasonable from a Christian perspective. I personally have no idea how you limit sexual conduct once you go beyond the traditional limit. I would enjoy listening and hearing what you have to say...

Didn't you get the memo, Angie? Anything in the bible that doesn't corroborate the views of Protestant Evangelicals is "open to interpretation". You know, at the same time as being infallible and unalterable. Do try and keep up dear.

Did you see Angie's question? She stated, "Why do so many Christians think it is their business?" I think Juanita is really hitting a nail on the head so be reasonable. It is not just Christians but also atheists have questions in this area...

Ah so zdenny won't respond to my (valid) points but will just describe them to others? Ah, that makes so much sense. (/sarcasm)

We're not saying, don't post, we're saying don't post here—because this (as I understand it) is to be the framework of the discussion for the panellists, rather than threads which may be started elsewhere to discuss the actual programme once it has aired.

Juanita is being so nice to you and really trying to come up with good questions and you are acting offended. It just appears that you are being unreasonable. That is all I wanted to point out. It appears that other atheists feel as I do having shown an interest in the discussion.

God Bless...

  • I totally agree with the general consensus. Sex between a husband and wife is whatever they feel comfortable with and the bed is undefiled. Husband and wife bond and grow together and exploring each others bodies is just part of that process.

Thanks for letting me join. :-))

  • It is true that if I am reading the Bible, I am reading it for me to learn. No one will be adopted into the New Blood Line not under the Law of Sin and Death for dos or do nots. If we get Jesus into the center of our circle, everything will come out alright and if we don't, nothing else will matter when we leave this earth.

But there are consequences for actions, saint and sinner alike. So it is always in our best interest to learn what, Sow to the wind, ream the whirlwind means. These wonderful people are just trying to help others not have to reap a lot of heartache and trouble when it can easily be avoided.

The law of gravity works even if I think I can jump off a cliff without a parachute. Self justification won't change that law or the consequences of ignoring it.

Having said that, the wonderful people on this site are not condemning others, they are trying to help them. I can write a book on things not to do by stupid things I did yesterday. I am now learning to listen.

  •      1 Cor 7 vs 2 says:  "To avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband".  Pretty clear cut NT teaching, one man/one woman and motive(to avoid fornication).  Getting married to avoid fornication seems so drab compared to Adam and Eve's marriage in paradise.  Of course, we don't know if they even had sex before they fell into sin, but if they did, I'm sure it was much more pleasurable then after the fall.  It was actually David's son Soloman that had 700 wives and 300 concubines.  Most of these women he didn't have sex with, they were part of trade agreements with foreign kings, and it was these non-Israelite women that led him into idolatry.  God overlooked polgamy in the OT until the coming of the Messiah, who purchased redemption for man and reinstituted monogamy.
  • Personally, I think as ong as the couple is married, what they do in the bedroom is their business. I dont think God has rules and regulations for sex. I bet Adam and Eve had pretty crazy sex sometimes. Just sayin. I think God wants humans to enjoy sex. I dont know where God draws the line but I dont think hes down with men forcing their wives into sex when they dont want it and "weird sex"...I believe sex was created for 1 man and 1 woman who are married and they can do what they will with it. So, thats my opinion.
  • The Bible says and Jesus states in Matthew 19:4-6, ""Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."
