Creating a Learning Network for Kingdom Builders!

Years ago there was a peaceful trade with North Africa and Europe . The trade routes throughout the Meditterranean Sea south into the Northernmost countries were fruitful and lucrative for all .  They enjoyed a peaceful and productive co - existance .  Likewise , the Turks were the Gateway to Asia.  Their corner of the world enjoyed free trading with the Orient until Ghengis Kahn, like a mad hornet ,  came barrelling out of the Northeast and pillaged everything in sight.  It started a chain reaction ... War became the Norm and everything changed .

Is this the Devil's Workshop ?   Are we " AS CHRISTIANS " expected to forgive those who trespass against us ?  What is this legacy left for us from Adam and Eve that permeates the human psyche and pushes humanity to the breaking point ?

As Christians we are to follow Christ's example. Yes, He said we are to forgive seventy times seven, and that was an example. We are not to harbor hatred, bitterness or resentment in our hearrs. As lost sinners we cannot do this, but as believers in Christ, who has been washed in the Blood of the Lamb, we have the strength of the Holy Spirit who resides in us to obey our Lord Jesus Christ. It is not easy, and we are still in our flesh and subject to this world's evils, and the temptations of the devil, but we are to abide in Him and His word. In and of our own selves we haven't the fortitude to forgive someone who has wronged us. In Christ we do. He paid the price for our sin, and unforgiveness is indeed sinfulness. The priest has made the comment the past three Sundays when we say the Lord's Prayer that it is a "dangerous prayer", because we call upon God to "forgive us AS WE FORGIVE those who tresspass against us."  If we have an unforgiving spirit and REFUSE to even rely upon Him to lead us toward forgiveness, then we should not expect God to forgive us when we sin. Jesus said in Matthew 6 that if we forgive others, then God will forgive us, but if we don't forgive others, then neither will God forgive us.

From a commentary on my computer Bible:

Jesus gives a startling warning about forgiveness: If we refuse to forgive others, God will also refuse to forgive us. Why? Because when we don't forgive others, we are denying our common ground as sinners in need of God's forgiveness. God's forgiveness of sin is not the direct result of our forgiving others, but it is based on our realizing what forgiveness means (see Eph_4:32). It is easy to ask God for forgiveness but difficult to grant it to others. Whenever we ask God to forgive us for sin, we should ask, Have I forgiven the people who have wronged me?

I agree with SueW... peace has never been on this earth in full, and it won't be until the Prince of Peace returns!

Paul, there never was peace.  When God's only Son was here, preaching nothing but peace and love, man crucified him. If you read STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND by Robert Heinlein, this book points out that were Jesus born today, the same thing would happen only He would have been crucified in hours or days of the beginning of His Ministry (modern communication).  What Jesus suggested is that each of us clean up our own back yard and leave the rest to God.  Oh yes and "pray much".

Look back and thank God ... Look forward and trust God !  Look around and serve God while looking within and finding God ...

For it is God who closes doors no man can open ... And God opens doors no man can close !
