A cry for Americans to stand up and be heard!-Freedom News.
On Tuesday, January 4, 2010 Pakistani Governor Salman Taseer was assasinated by one of his personal bodyguards, Malik Mumtaz Qadri. Governor Taseer was in a public market when Qadri opened fire on him, leaving him with 27 bullets in his body. Qadri then set his gun down, put his hands in the air and announced that he had no intention of harming anyone else.
Governor Salman Taseer had been in controversy ever since he first went to visit Asia Bibi, a Christian, Pakistani woman who “dared” to speak about her faith with a Muslim woman. Asia Bibi was placed in jail and sentenced to death by execution. Taseer had been the only Pakistani official to speak out against Bibi’s execution. Taseer challenged the controversial “blasphemy law” that had been used to sentence Bibi to execution. Taseer was opposed to the blasphemy law, saying it was being misused and that not only had minorites been affected by this flawed law, but also innocent Muslims.
Taseer stated that he would fight this law even if he “was the last man standing”. Taseer also went so far as to call a Press Conference in Bibi’s home and publicly demaning Bibi’s release. During this time, Taseer received death threats and had many angry Muslims telling him he was wajib-ul-qatl, which means worthy of murder for daring to oppose the blaspemy law which is also known as “the black laws”.
The assasination of Governor Taseer has brought great controversy to Pakistan. Pakistan has been split with opinions on the situation. While many are appalled and don’t condone the killer, many others showered the killer with flower petals and wreaths and shouts of praise as he was being arrested.
According to CSMonitor.com: “The one thing that observers seem to agree on is that the outpouring of praise for his killer is intensifying the divide between religious and secular elements within Pakistan’s already shaky government.”
The Asian Tribune reported :”The US goal is to ramp up U.S. military aid to Pakistan incrementally over the five-year period, from $300 million next year, to $350 million in 2012 until the $2 billion is met, officials said.”
The US has also sent over $200 million in Humanitarian Aid this past year.
Now the question is this, “Why aren’t more Christians outraged that their tax dollars are going to a country that is targeting Christians and torturing, executing and imprisoning them?”
The US has sent millions of dollars to Pakistan to aid in military and humanitarian needs when they have a woman, Asia Bibi, who has been sitting in a prison cell for months now, waiting for her execution day, just for telling a Muslim woman about Jesus? Whats sick is that their are hundreds, if not thousands, of other Christians sitting in prison cells for some reason or another all because of the Pakistani/Muslim intolerance to other religions. Why, as Christians, are we not more outraged at this horrific injustice? Why are we not outraged that our tax money is going to support a country that is violent and adamantly against Christianity?
We should not have to stand for this! We should not be forced to support a country that hates and despises the Christian faith and tortures their own people for not being Muslim! It is time for the Christians in America to let their voice be heard!
If you want to let your voice be heard, then I urge you, fellow believers in Christ, to call Hilary Clinton and tell her that we want Asia Bibi freed! That the US cannot support a country that is as hateful and intolerant of other religions. The US should cut all ties with Pakistan if they cannot or will not free Asia Bibi.
