The straight and narrow is tough for a reason, it produces persevearnce, patience and pushes us to be Christlike. Its not easy 4 a reason.-Sierra Nichole

This morning I ran across this article: http://bit.ly/k84o44 and after reading it I got really angry. I had heard about the song Judas by Lady Gaga a few weeks ago and didnt really think much about it until I read this article today.

Here are my thoughts:

As Christians (myself included) what kind of entertainment are we allowing into our lives? Not just music but movies, magazines, books, etc?

Entertainment plays a huge part in our lives in the 21st Century but I wonder, are we calling Evil-Good and Good-Evil?

Isaiah 5:20

Woe to those who call evil good
and good evil,
who put darkness for light
and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter.

Are we listening, watching and reading things and excusing it? Validating it or even justify it somehow. We allow this stuff in our heads, our homes, our lives and eventually we've gone from being in the world and not of to just being part of the world.

No matter how we look at it, try to justify it or make it ok in our heads listening to, watching and reading this crap is not ok, and that's exactly what it is-CRAP.

Why do we listen to Kesha, Lady Gaga, Rhianna, Eminem, Black Eyed Peas, Maroon 5, etc? I don't mean that ALL secular music is bad, I can think of quite a few artists that don't sing about sex, violence or promote bad behavior and have great music.

The question I am asking myself is this, "Why do we/I feel the need to have this stuff in our/my lives?"

We say we want to stand out from the world and be a light, but how can we be when we are partaking in "worldliness" and allowing darkness in our own lives? This is a harsh reality we as Christians need to confront in our own lives.

(Proverbs 16:25)There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.

(Proverbs 3:5-7) Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.

(Deuteronomy 30:19) “… I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days …”

(Matthew 6:22-23) “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy,[your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

Basically, you cant serve God and men, you cant mix Light and Dark (and most of the entertainment out there IS darkness) and you cant be in the world and of God-that's being on the fence and Lukewarm.

I am a huge music fan...I listen to music 99% of the time Im awake. However, after reading that article it made me look at what Im allowing into my head. What may start out in your head is an open door for the enemy to gain a foothold in your heart. Sin always starts out small, no big deal at first...then it takes root and becomes habit, then an idol...

Someone once said to me, "If you have to think twice about deleting an artist or movie or book before deleting it (if its not Godly) then you just need to delete it. If you cant automatically know if its ok or not then you need to just delete it before you have a chance to justify it in your head. You will never get rid of it if you have time to think about it."

That's so true. If I am going through my iTunes and have to stop and think about whether I should have something or not then that gives me time to validate it and make it okay in my head.

I would rather be off the fence, and putting positive, Godly stuff in my head than having CRAP floating through my brain and infecting my heart in the long-run.

A few years ago I did a study on the "Harlot" (aka Sin) vs Wisdom. In Proverbs they are both referred to as women and have very similar tactics in pulling people in. Here is what I learned:

READ PROVERBS 7 BEFORE CONTINUING.

Okay. The Harlot does the following:

1. Seduces with sweet, persuasive words-makes herself beautiful to behold.

2. She brings you into her home but her "home" leads to the Chambers of Death.

3. Proverbs 7 says she brings down even THE MIGHTIEST OF MEN-Men/Women who are firm in their faith, strong in the Lord. They are brought down by her persuasive harlotry.

EVEN MIGHTY MEN.

Just because you say you're a firm, unshakeable Christian does not mean you're immune to Satan's tricks.

Look at all the Might Men of God who have been brought down by the Harlot---Todd Bentley, Paula White, Jennifer Knapp, etc etc. The list could go on and on.

The question is this,"Why let this crap in our lives? Why even give the enemy an opportunity to deceive us?"

I urge you to look at your life and the entertainment you allow into your home and see if its worth giving the enemy the attention he is getting thru media.

Again, I am not saying everything that doesnt have a "Christian" label on it is bad-but MOST of it is just giving the enemy attention thru sex, violence, horror, hatred, profanity, seduction, rebellion, etc etc

Following the Straight and Narrow is not easy. Its hard. It requires us to be separate from the world. It requires us to make choices, constantly. Will you choose to stay on the Path to Life or make choices that lead to Death and Destruction?
