Are You in the Light?

Eph 5:8 For you were “once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light Isa 60:2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you. 1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Rev 22:5 There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. For some people the darkness of night is scary at the very least and they want a flashlight handy for even a short venture. I guess that's really not a bad idea since we do need some means of finding our way. The Apostle Paul makes it clear in today’s lead verse that before we knew Christ we not only WALKED IN DARKNESS but we WERE DARKNESS. The original text here denotes darkness as being an evil system absolutely opposed to the light. That describes Satan's realm. Before coming to Jesus we were part of that evil world’s system, but now we know the joy of living in the presence of THE LIGHT. There is a requirement, though, if we claim to be His. “Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.” (1 John 2:6) We must live a life that is loving, caring, forgiving, and the many other attributes that He possesses. In short, it is best to follow the advice of Jesus, “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” (Matt 7:12) All Scripture NIV God loves you and so do I.
