Christian families come in all different sizes, races, and backgrounds. They all go through trials and tribulations that sometimes may seem too daunting to overcome, but they always stay strong. A lot of Christian families will turn to adoption to save children from otherwise unfortunate circumstances. Some families can’t prevent certain circumstances and end up losing their child and are left with a lot of questions.
I knew a Christian family who dealt with the issue of losing not just one child, but two children. It was a heart-wrenching affair that turned their lives upside down. They were adamant Christians who constantly were striving to be the best they could for God. They volunteered at a local soup kitchen, and even got their kids to participate. They did all they could to provide for their kids, but show them the values of charity. One somber day they lost their children in an accident to a drunk driver. The biggest question they had was why it was them, and why God did not instead take their lives. No parent ever wants to be the one to bury their children, and the funeral was a sordid affair for all. Weeping, the parents managed to speak their beautifully written eulogy about their two children. Months passed and throughout them the parents were surrounded by church members who comforted them. They struggled still with this huge loss, but managed to overcome it. Not with help from people - though it was helpful - but through constant prayer and devotion to God, for they knew his plan would lead them through this seemingly endless dark valley. And he did, and they had another child, despite their fears, who has grown with them and been a beacon of hope for the parents, and a gift from God in their lives.
The Struggles of a family and God's plan for them.
Watch this powerful movie, The Lamp and it will change your life
"The Lamp is a wonderful, wholesome and inspiring family film. It shows that if we have faith, even in the face of adversity, God can heal our hearts and allow us to grow."
The next family I knew were also struggling, but with something completely different. The wife of a good man I knew from church was unable to have children. This hit the family hard, for they were extremely excited to have children. They prayed constantly for a miracle from God that they could somehow conceive a child. It seemed to be all-for-not though, for months passed with no sign of a pregnancy. The family was broken, and beaten by the demons casting doubt over their want of a good family. Then, by some stroke of God, they happened upon a woman who had just joined the church and befriended her. It turns out this woman was a worker for an adoption agency that specializes in finding homes for less-fortunate children in Africa. What a blessing that was! After a few months of waiting, paper work, and red tape, they finally received their adopted child. A small, skinny girl of only two years age. The girl was a sweetheart who turned into the kindest child. Just another example of how God can work in many ways.
These are but two stories of how God can help families who are struggling. Be it through spiritual healing or coincidences so odd they have to be given to the glory of the All Mighty. There are families still struggling though everyday with the same problems mentioned before, and it seems they will never get out. But if they are true to God and have hope that he will help them through whatever it is that they are experiencing, they will be rewarded, just as God says.
