The Christmas Holiday has made its fast approach since Thanksgiving ended. More Christmas albums, and a lot of TV channels with Christmas-themed movies and shows. Here is a great list of movies to watch this Christmas, both about Christmas, and Christian movies in general that will warm your heart with the upcoming joyous holiday!

Some movies aren't in theatres, but you can always find the best on TV. Cable TV is a Christmas movie lover's dream. Lifetime, Hallmark, and ABC Family all have Christmas movie marathons, and they all produce their own Christmas movies to boot.

A great christian movie that revolves around Christmas is "The Heart Of Christmas." The world is filled with tragic stories, and stories that will make great movies. Ask anyone around you. We all know someone whose story should be a feature film. The stuff of real life makes for better drama than anything we can make up. The challenge, then, for the filmmaker, is to take that story and make it into a great film. THE HEART OF CHRISTMAS isn't a great film. It's a great story.

Life goes on?

A tale of hope, wishes, dreams, and what can happen when you just believe.

A sharply intelligent novelist, Stanley (Jason London) has everything - a successful career, a beautiful home, and a loving wife and son. But when his little boy is killed in a tragic accident, Stanley cannot accept his loss and proceeds to poison his marriage and everything around him with his bitterness and grief.

Two years have passed since the tragedy; Stanley is on the verge of leaving Lisa, his long-suffering spouse, and he hasn't written a word since the death of his son. But a visit from a mysterious and magical messenger, who offers him three wishes, just may reawaken Stanley's hope for the future. With a little help from a couple of needy foster kids next door, Stanley and Lisa find that all their wishes can come true if they just believe.

Veggie Tales: The Little Drummer Boy is a great children's film for the whole family. In this Veggie-version of a holiday classic, Junior Asparagus stars as The Little Drummer Boy, a lonely child who finds the true meaning of Christmas when he stumbles upon the birth of the baby Jesus. A story of generosity, hope, and love, this timeless tale will warm the hearts of children everywhere!

Another solid family film that is not necessarily about Christmas, but is still a great Christian film, is "Courageous". Courageous takes us into the lives of several families – normal families that we might encounter on any given day. In one family, we see a workaholic father who no longer seems to be able to find common ground with his teenage son. In another family, we see the struggles of a newly-divorced father. In yet another family, we see a dad who worries about the choices his teenage daughter might make when an older troubled boy seeks to date her. In still another family, we see a single dad who has never made any type of connection with his little daughter, not even in the form of helping to support her, financially or otherwise. In the final family, we see a dad who has just lost his job and wonders how he will support his wife and young children. These families could be like families we know and that is one of the many strong points of this movie – it’s so identifiable.

Finally, the latest movie, which is secular, but has a good meaning, is "Arthur Christmas." While it may not show Christianity's true belief of Christmas, it could open up doors for adults to speak with their children about the true meaning of Christmas. Filled with laughs and a great story "Arthur Christmas" is wholesome fun for the whole family.

While there are countless movies out there this season, the few listed here are great for a family wishing to divert from the obvious Christmas classics that can be found on cable TV. With a lot of variety, your family could easily spend the next few weeks leading up to Christmas indulging in great movies that everyone will love, and that will leave a big impact on your family this season.
