I read a tweet about church websites that caught my eye. The tweet was:
If I land on your church website and I don't understand what you're talking about I'm leaving . Build your site to be easy for new people

This tweet, coming from a Christian, gives insight into what people looking for a church online do not want to see from a church website. From this tweet, I know that church seekers don't want:
- a lot of church jargon
- a church website whose only audience are current church members
- a website that's not user-friendly
- too much information
You can avoid having an unfriendly website towards church seekers by:
- using easy-to-understand language
- welcoming church seekers right on your homepage
- a clear way to go from page to page (hotlinks of important pages on the top or side of the homepage, and on every page)
- summarizing information so people get the gist of things without having to spend hours reading
Your church website will oftentimes be a person's first impression of your church, as this tweeter points out:
'Nearly 100% of potential visitors..will check out ur website b4 they visit ur church. So why is your website so lame?' Unique by @PhilCooke

While this tweet may seem to be insulting church websites, it's really just trying to give churches a nudge to really take a look at their website and how they can improve it, as people will see your church website and make decisions about going to your church/not going based on what they read and see on the website.
