What is the difference between training and teaching. Living it out... Now, many of us have had years of 'teaching' but we still struggle with finding and fulfilling our destiny. That is what it means to be a disciple: it means that we are a skilled worker, we can serve Christ effectively. We know what we should do, how to do it and enjoy the joy of living out what we were created to do.
I learned something awhile ago that is so applicable to making disciples...
There was an experiment with a group of women who lost between 18 and 20 pounds each. They split the group in half. 1/2 of the women were asked to record their weight every morning. 1/2 did not.
After 2 years, they checked to see what happened.
For the group that did not track their weight, almost all of them had gained it back.
For the group that tracked their weight every day, almost all of them kept it off.
In The Vine, which I call 'training wheels for discipleship', we have a simple for we use called "My Life Recorder." People who are trying to succeed in ministry simply track how they are doing regarding the things they are planning to do. This simple step in trying to accomplish things has shown to be very fruitful as we have used it with The Vine.

We just finished a pilot application of Dream Journal (finding out the dream for our life that God created us to follow) and though I wrestled with the concept and application for a while, I did eventually remove my head from my backside and accepted that I can consistenly use my gifts and do exactly what I was created to do - and have a deep passion for - without fear of being asked to jump off a cliff, being shipped off to a mean-scary place or some other radical action that would give me big goose bumps and hives.
For the next 4 weeks, a group will gather HERE... to focus on finding and fulfilling our destiny! We'll get to know each other. We'll better understand our gifts/talents and callings. We'll focus on finding and fulfilling our destiny.
