How to choose a microphone for your church

How will you use it?

Before you buy a microphone, it's good to first know how you will be using it. Some microphones are meant for recording singing, while others are just meant to record talking. You don't want to invest money in a good microphone for your choir if it's one that wasn't designed for picking up singing.

Check the frequency range

You'll want to look into the frequency range of microphones. It's important that your microphone be able to pick up every sound whether it's high pitched or low pitched. The lower the hertz and the higher the kilohertz means the better the sound quality will be.

Brand Reliability

Some microphone brands have guarantees, are known for producing superior sound quality etc. You will want to research different brands of microphones to see which brand performs the best for the purpose you'll be using it for.

Comfort

The comfort of your microphone is important. If you use your Bible a lot while talking and like to walk around during your sermon, you might want to look into an ear worn microphone for the most comfort. A worship singer, however, may find a handheld microphone more comfortable.
