Here are some ways you can reach out to the youth in your community with media ministry:
Use relevant technology- Does your church put your messages on cassette tape? While tapes are a great way to reach the elderly, youth usually have a CD player or an MP3 player. Consider also having your messages on a CD and as an MP3 download on your website.
Include clips from popular Christian bands of today- You can get youth's attention by putting clips of music from popular Christian bands kids listen to these days- like Kutless and Skillet- on your CD messages and your church website. Of course, you will want to read up on fair use of music clips and if you want to publish a whole song, get permission from the band first to avoid copyright issues.
Have youth testimonials- Are there youth in your church that have been save recently? You could record their testimonial and put it on a CD. Youth are much more likely to relate to Christians their own age.
Talk about issues youth face today- The issues youth face today are much the same as pastors faced when they were young- peer pressure and the tendency to give into things like drugs, sex, etc. By talking about these issues you will be able to relate with youth and tell them how they can overcome their struggles- through Jesus.
