Organization in Worship

One thing that can greatly benefit your worship team is organization. I have put together some helpful tips on how to get your worship team organized.

1. Have a transparent schedule: Have a calendar with event dates listed not only on the bulletin board but also create a shared online calendar, like one on Google Docs. A Google Docs calendar lets you email event times and dates directly to your team members and you can even set Google calendar to email you when an event date/time is changed. Having a transparent calendar will make it easy for all to see when people will be late/not present due to weather, appointments, etc.

2. Create a set list: Every week before worship, get your worship team together and create an agreed upon set list. Being on the same page with what songs you will be singing is a crucial step in getting your team organized.

3. Create a worship team handbook: Create a handbook with expectations, team member roles, etc. and give a copy to each existing member and to any new member who joins your team. Your team members will know exactly what's expected of them and new members will appreciate the heads-up!

4. Use presentation software: Whenever your team gets together to practice or even for just general meetings, have a slideshow presentation ready with an outline of the day's events, any song lyrics, etc. You may even want to make print outs of meeting notes and lyrics so your team has a copy on hand.
