Pastors, how does your Church do when it comes to welcoming in new people and visitors? Do you have a crew ready to roll when new people come in, or does your church just tend to let visitors and new people fend for themselves?
I have visited a lot of churches over the years. I have visited some really great ones and others...not so great.
What made it a greatexperience and what made it a bad experience?
Some churches I have been to are insanely friendly. They literally must have a greeting crew who can smell when new people come in! It was a little overwhelming but also really nice to have people make a point to notice youre new and try to connect with you. The greeters would help find my family and I seats, introduce us to others, etc. It definitely made me want to go back and visit those churches.
Other churches I have visited don't even notice new people. My family and I visited one church over Christmas while in Florida and I dont think anyone even talked to us except to say hello after the pastor encouraged people to go and say hello to people they dont normally talk to. It felt a little awkward and no one even spoke to us after that.
I would rather have the overwhelmingly nice greeters than have no one bother with me at all.
It made me feel so welcome and wanted when I visited the Churches that have greeters ready to make visitors feel welcome right away.
You're church may want to organize a greeting team! People who just find visitors and welcome them and help them feel at ease in the Church is a great team to have!
