There are the things that everyone needs to be effective followers of Christ...
* To help with new ministries. Some start them and we all need to support them. Why is this important? Because ministries, like our bodies can grow old and ineffective. What keeps things fresh and alive is to start new ministries! To do that effectively, we all need to be involved.
* To hear what God intends for you... God has plans for everything. But, when I know what He intends for me, that is where the 'rubber meets the road'. This helps us to move with him and his purposes and not just be doing our own thing.
* To be able to share Christ with others. Part of sharing Christ comes as we share the excitement of seeing him work in our lives and in the lives of others. But, part is also a skill that we learn. Both are important.
* To be able to help others. We're naturally pretty self-centered, and I'm speaking for myself, too! - We need to learn how to care for others... deliverately and dependably. And, learn how to be good at it.
* To be able to teach what we know. God wants to be both learners and teachers. If we know we are going to pass on what we learn, we learn differently. That is what it means when the scripture says we should make disciples - it means passing on to each other what we know about following Christ and what his Kingdom is all about.
The things above are for everyone, plus, you have the opportunity to find the special area that God has called you to serve. Maybe you already know what that area is, if so, do share...

Yes, I find it most effective for me to share with people in a structured way. I often do 'discovery pods' with a mixed group: Christians and 'pre'Christians. We meet regulary and share in a circle our world views: On God, then on the condition of man, then on the solutions, etc. It is amazing how the light shines through!
