Wow, that is an interesting way to get an Atheist's or any non-Christian's attention. It's like using reverse psychology.

I don't know if I agree with it or not, but I don't believe in a "candy-coated" Gospel either. I guess it doesn't matter how you get people's attention, as long as your main goal is to tell them the WHOLE truth of the Gospel, not just the parts that seem attractive to our human nature. Jesus didn't go around saying "No More Christians" to get non-believers' attention, He told the Gospel like it is lol :)
The church has a website where you can listen to the sermons. I reserve comments until I hear them.

I don't see the title as offensive because I see it as a common cry we are hearing from non-believers in our nation today. I see this more in alignment with 1Corinthians 9:20-23 than not being in alignment with the Truth or trying to make something seem attractive.
I am not sure what they are saying here? It seems like the message is we're not like "those Christians"? and what would identify "those Christians"...most of the "those Christians" that the world has problems with are those who exalt Jesus Christ and proclaim Jesus as Lord and Savior...the only way to the Father. The world seems to have problems with the Christians who stand for life, family and obedience to the 10 commandments. It seems like they could be running away from that image of Christians and if that is the case then I would want no part of that message. If it is just a gimmick to get people to hear the word...this may just not be the time...a time when Christianity is being attacked and dismissed.
Its not unlike the Christian vs Christ follower naming debate. Ie, some misguided Christians have replaced Jesus with morality, or at a minimum have elevated specific moral views such that they overshadow the Gospel. I don't like this hijacking either, but I'd rather go down fighting for the Gospel, than to just give up. I do think each church and individual Christian has to come to terms with the problem though. For some such as this church, the highjacking of the name Christian is not the sort of thing to fall on ones sword over. I disagree, but I do respect their views, and if it brings people to Christ, more power to them.

At the base of it, is some segments of contemporary society want a rule book, thus the significant growth increases in Jehovah's witnesses and Islam. Also, many well meaning folks in the contemporary Christian church like that sort of ear tickling as well. As history shows, misuse of the law, and the resulting pietistic leanings have always been threats to the Gospel, yet Jesus has prevailed the last 2000 years, and He will continue to do so. Thus, if it takes some creative renaming to present the law and Gospel in their proper place, I'll disagree with the method per se, but will still applaud the results.
Ron I am not sure what you mean by some christians replaced Jesus with morality or elevated specific moral views that overshadow the gospel.
If anyone would like to hear Pastor Ross's messages so as not to speculate on the message vs the hoopla surrounding the catchy titles, they can be found on the Mosaic Church in Crestview's website. I listened to a few of them.
