What Past

> 2 Cor 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! > > Rom 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, > > Ps 51:10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. > > Oh how we seem to be prone to branding “used to be” on others. To say a person was once a test pilot, another a designer, etc. is fine, but to dig up past sins covered by the blood of Christ is a flat out sin on OUR part. Jesus forgave the woman taken in adultery then told her to go and leave her life of sin. The woman at the well became an instant missionary when He forgave her and the result was that many accepted Him as Savior. Paul called those in Jesus “new creations”; John said, “Confess your sin and He will forgive and cleanse”. (! John 1:9) If Jesus Christ makes a person new and clean how dare we hang on them a negative label? They are new and as such they have no past. Paul tells us “Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God”. (1 Cor 6:9-11) Whatever THEIR past, whatever OUR past, none of us have a past if we are in CHRIST.

  • I think it also uses the foolish things to confound the wise. What is more confounding to us than when the recovered sinner we tend to judge goes on and wins them for Christ!
  • THAT! Is what it is all about.....any other thoughts or actions are basic un-belief. I think Jesus addressed it well with a group of idiots....when He invited stone throwing to be reflected upon.
