Ps 81:10 I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it. 11 "But my people would not listen to me; Israel would not submit to me. 12 So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own devices.
Deut 32:18 You deserted the Rock, who fathered you; you forgot the God who gave you birth.
Prov 1:30-33 since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke, they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes. For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them; but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm."
Heb 10:29 How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?
It is hard to think that there are those who trample the Son of God, but before we sit in condemnation of only the most grievous of sinners, let us consider just what we’re talking about. God’s Word says how much more severely a man deserves to be punished who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him. When we lay claim to the salvation of God, namely say that we believe Jesus died and rose again to redeem our souls and say we have received His salvation, but do not change one thing about the way we live, WE are trampling on that sacred blood and insulting the Spirit of grace. God told the Jews, His chosen people, that because they would not listen to Him (pay attention and act upon what they had heard) He turned them over to their own stubborn hearts. He allowed them to follow their own devices and reap the fruit thereof. Oh friend, if you claim Him as Savior then I plead with you to begin to LIVE AS HE WOULD HAVE YOU LIVE.
