With the onset of the digital age, you may be asking youself why you would want to use tapes. Once you understand the benefits of using tapes, you'll see how useful using tapes can be.
Tapes cannot be scratched
Unless you purposely unwind your tape and scratch on the tape's surface, you can't really scratch a tape. CDs, on the other hand, scratch very easily, sometimes just by holding the CD the wrong way/touching the CD surface! Oftentimes when a CD is scratched it is rendered useless. You don't have to worry about picking up a tape the wrong way and scratching it, you just pick it up.
Tapes are durable
You can drop a tape 100 times and it will probably still work. But, drop a CD enough times and eventually it will get scratched up. The same goes for MP3 players which can break when dropped hard enough. Tapes can withstand a lot more damage than thin CDs and MP3 players.

Tapes don't skip
Unlike CDs which skip when something bumps into the CD player, tapes don't skip because they are not digital. You can take a tape player on your morning jog and not have to worry about it skipping, the same can't be said for a CD player unless it has a good anti-skip feature.
Tapes last
I have played tapes that were at least ten years old with no problems. I've tried the same thing with CDs and many of them skip through entire songs either because they were scratched or the disc somehow got cracked over the years, etc.
When you choose not to use tapes at all, you may be missing outreach opportunities
Many people are still using tapes and don't even have a CD player. By not having your messages available on tape at all, you may be missing opportunities to reach people.
