Media Ministry: Door Hanger Bags / Inserts

How can a CD / DVD, printed insert, and door hanger bag serve your church or spiritual ministry?

Meet Pastor James and His Outreach Ministry. Pastor James has a church nestled in the Ozark Mountains. But don’t be fooled by the location. Why? Let me give you two reasons. For one, his church website on average has 20,000 sermons downloaded from it weekly. But that’s not all! For another, Pastor James’ church also duplicates about 4,000 CDs of sermons per week and sends them out by the box loads. That means, he checks his communications daily (website orders, emails, phone messages, written requests, etc.), and church volunteers daily run an army of duplicators. A weekly average of 4,000 duplications equates to an upward of 700 per day, six days a week. How did he build such an outreach? Not all at once, but step by step; and not by chance, but by purposeful intention.

Prayerfully, it began very small a few years ago on Monday mornings with Pastor James holding a handful of about 10 duplicated sermons, a church volunteer as a partner, and a prayer, “Lord, where do You want me to go with these today?”

Spiritually, Pastor James began his outreach small with just a few, and began with a few dedicated workers who took up the “challenge” to commit themselves to the Lord’s Great Commission. As Pastor James takes the lead, continuously models outreach, and takes along others to “learn the ropes,” so his church members follow his example.

People Not at Home? Not a problem for Pastor James and his team. With a custom printed insert containing the church information and an invitation to attend, the disc message in an appropriate case, and a doorhanger clear plastic bag, he reaches the occupants by leaving this "gift" hanging on their doorknob.

One Last Part to Pastor James' Story. What About Cost? Again, no problem! Financially, Pastor James asked his church board to set aside 10% of undesignated tithes and offerings they receive. Ten percent tithe of the tithes. (Cont'd.)

Doorhanger Bags - Inserts — Preserve your ministry with trustable CDs.

Gift Makes Way for the Man. A wise old sage, Solomon, said that a gift makes way for the person. What did he mean? The giving of a gift causes the recipient to accept the gift AND the giver as well. Accepting the Giver is also an acceptance of the Giver's words. The giving of a gift causes the receiver to honor and accept the words of the giver.

CD is a Gift, not a Tract. Apply the above proverb to giving a recorded CD sermon as a gift. First, the CD is ondisc printed with an attractive colorful design, packaged in a plastic case with a matching card insert, with a matching outside cover. Attention grabbing! Then the CD is given to a waiter or waitress because you have gone out to eat at a restaurant after the Sunday service. You have a great chit-chat time with the waiter or waitress during the serving of the meal, and you get to know him or her a little, and present yourself as friendly. Then you give a few extra dollars above and beyond the acceptable tip amount in your area intentionally to bless your waiter or waitress, and you hand the sermon CD with the tip money. A GIFT IMAKES A WAY FOR THE PERSON. You bet the waiter or waitress will very much value your CD gift and will listen with a willing heart to the spiritual message on the CD. Additionally, handing out sermon CDs on the street is equally simple. I’ve seen lots of distributed paper tracts dropped on the sidewalk, but I’ve NEVER SEEN even a single distributed CD dropped on the sidewalk. This is outreach at its SIMPLEST and most EFFECTIVE method!

(Article cont'd.) (Or even a few percentage points are enough to begin.) The Lord says that His seed should not be stored in the barn, but to sow it again in the world. With a tithe of the tithes, Pastor James began this outreach ministry. Throughout its growth, he has never asked recipients for money for the free messages, nor has he ever lacked for keeping the ministry solvent. Single seeds ALWAY produce multitudes more!

So Pastor, what is your perceived obstacle stopping you from outreach?

As you can see, the tangible benefit to outreach with discs, inserts, and doorhangers IS OUT OF THIS WORLD!
