As Media Director at my church, I'm seen as the "scribe" responsible for successfully recording our messages on DVD. However, lately the finalization process fails intermittently. My research reveals that my problem is in the blank media, and that most blank DVD media has a 40% or more failure rate.
This is totally unacceptable to me, my Pastor, and in my heart of hearts, God. I believe God has led me to this discussion group for the help I desperately need. Kingdom's product work great in duplication, but I experience same problem in finalizing master.
Any reply or input will be a blessing.
Thanks...

Recording speed is a very big issue, especially in dvd recorders. Now a days you can find recorders that will let you record up to 8 even 10 hrs of info. That is great if it is your favorite tv show or the big game you couldn't stay awake for. But for quality and high speed duplication you must try and stick with the SP record mode. It will also be calles "2 hour' mode. This is what dvd's were meant to be used for. But companies added these extended record times and when you are recording in those and trying to copy them you can have problems.

I believe so. What I did was switch the DVD record mode from LP to SP (a slower speed). Right away it was working fine, no problems since. Thanks...
Dear Dennis,
Let's start at the beginning. Mark Bailey above is correct, but there are more questions to ask. Are you finalizing your recording in the DVD recorder (that has a video camera attached to it) or in the video camera itself? Are you finalizing the recording for (1) creating a DVD file stored on a disc, or (2) creating a DVD disc playable in a DVD player?
I've not experienced any discernible failure rates with blank DVDs.

Finalization should be done at the time of recording in the machine that it was recorded in. You can not finalize a disk in a separate unit or computer this will cause failure rates to soar. 40% seems very high, we use DVD masters here and the rate is not close to 40%. What DVD recorder are you using? This may make a difference. Also there is a chance that you got some bad DVD's as they are mass produced. If you got the DVD's and the recorder from Kingdom Inc, you can call to talk to a technician to help you find the source of your problem. Intermittent failures can also be a drive going bad in the recorder.

I'm glad you got it worked out. Equipment can really get in the way sometimes!

I haven't seen any responses from you. Have you been able to resolve this issue?
