Nehemiah Walk.
What it means: Nehemiah did 3 things that we would do well to imitate.
1. Confession. Nehemiah heard that the walls were broken down. He confessed his sins and the sins of his people.
2. Consecration. Nehemiah consecrated, set aside himself for service in rebuilding the walls.
3. Commission. Nehemiah received his commission from God and the King to rebuild the walls.
The Nehemiah Walk is an opportunity for all people in the region to review the state of the walls. The degree we mourn over the state of the walls will to a large degree determine the passion we have for rebuilding.
Morning and Evening Prayer
What it means: Many of us work, yet we want to join corporately for prayer. We are establishing 40 days of prayer – Monday through Friday just before and after work. The prayer will be on the web and by phone conference. This will allow many people to join together for prayer!
Wesley Fast.
What it means: We are calling all to prayer and fasting. John Wesley called believers to fast from Thursday dinner to Friday before dinner. We are resounding his call.
The Wall Exercises:
What it means: Ministry, using our gifts/talents and abilities to serve others in the name of Christ, is often invisible. This means that if I want to work with others in a specific type of ministry, I don’t know who is doing what and don’t have an opportunity to connect. Or, if I want to establish a new type of ministry, I don’t have the opportunity to connect with like minded individuals. We are developing a series of exercises that churches and communities can use to make ministry visible and help people connect.
Supporting and Other Upcoming Activities:
Training Center
What it means: There are many skilled teacher/trainers in our region. What they have to offer needs to be visible and available to the body of Christ.
We are laying the groundwork for a training center that will provide recurring trainings (Institutional training) and ad hoc trainings provided by various members of the community (Organic Training)
Newspaper
What it means: There are many newsworthy events that need to be covered in our community at large. Plans are under way to establish a newspaper for the region. This newspaper will contain a special section on KingdomCommunities, churches and the Christian community at large.
TownMeetings
What it means: We live in the United States where our voices in our communities should be heard regarding civic, business, education, etc. Often this is not the case.
The TownMeetings, to be established after the Newspaper is in place, will provide a forum where the voices of the people can be heard.
